Till now in India cable TV signals are of analogue type. And from the midnight of 30th June all analogue cable TV signals will be replaced by digital signals, due to The Cable Television Networks (Regulation) Amendment Act. Your cable wires will be replaced by set up box technology for better cable TV quality. Means you will need to buy a set up box like DTH services for receiving digital cable TV signals. It will increase the quality, features and your cable TV experience in a positive manner. TRAI is going to regulate this act in metro cities from July 1st and will regulate this act in entire country till 31st December 2012.

Difference between Digital and Analogue cable TV signals
Analogue cable TV signals are the cable TV signals which are being used till now. These signals may vary your picture and sound quality due to the distortion caused by cable wire quality, length and some others factors. Due to these distortion you may get fuzzy pictures on screen or some horizontal disturbances. But as in DTH you get proper quality of both pictures and sound, is the form of digital TV signals. Hence the main difference between both type of signals is that one may transfer signal in lower quality and other in better quality otherwise completely not. And it is necessary to buy it if you still want to enjoy cable TV, because you will not get any analogue signals from mid night of 30th June. But TRAI states that customer need to pay Rs.850 only upfront and remaining money he can pay into installations. Other than this cost as Digital cable TV will provide you freedom of choosing channels according to your choice, which will cost you more. And as the basic package will start from Rs.100 clearly means that other packages will be costly than Rs.100 and as there is no statement about which channels will be included in basic package, may not provide your presently favorite channels in that package. Due to which you have to go on for higher value packages which will cost you more.
